How to Add Minutes to AT&T
Although AT&T is best known for its postpaid wireless accounts, the company also offers the prepaid GoPhone accounts. You pay for your phone minutes upfront and each time you make a call or use the phone, it deducts from your account. As your minutes get low, you often get a text message from AT&T to add minutes to your account to continue using the phone. To add minutes, you log on to the online or telephone system to make a payment.

Tips & Warnings
For your convenience, AT&T also allows you the option to add minutes to your account through a live representative on the phone, but you'll have to pay an extra convenience fee. Authorized AT&T retailers also sell prepaid minutes cards for those who don't have credit cards, debit cards or a checking account. After walking into the store and buying the prepaid card, you will still have to access either the online or telephone system, but instead of entering your payment information you'll press the number for the prepaid card option. Enter the redemption code found on the card to add those minutes to your account.
The prepaid cards must be redeemed before the expiration date printed on the card. The expiration date is determined by the amount you purchase. The $15 cards expire within 30 days. Cards between $25 and $60 expire within 90 days. A $100 card will be good for a year.
