How to Design a Wreath
Wreaths are decorative wall or door hangings for holidays, weddings, Advent, interior decorations and funerals. A wreath is also an attractive table centerpiece to combine with candles. The decorative displays are attached to wire, craft foam, wood, straw rings, twigs and cardboard forms or coat hangers. Living, dried and artificial materials are used to make a basic wreath composition. Items are wired or hot glued to the wreath materials to add color, texture and theme to the design.
Instructions

1
Choose an idea on which to base the wreath design. Base the design on Victorian, Williamsburg, Della Robbia, traditional or modern wreath styles.
-
2
Draw the wreath ideas on the sketch pad. Experiment with various shapes, including the traditional circle, heart or square wreath.
-
-
3
Draw decorative items onto the wreath sketch. Fruit, flowers, natural cones, sea shells, Christmas ornaments and miniature garden tools are some of the pieces that add to the theme of the wreath.
-
4
Color in the wreath background and decorations of the completed wreath design sketch with the pencils. Write a list of needed supplies at the side of the wreath design sketch.
-
5
Collect or purchase the materials needed for the wreath. For instance, a natural cone wreath will be made of two to three different types of cones that will be secured to a wooden, wire, grapevine or straw ring base. A fresh wreath that consists of evergreens and decorative ornamentation is attached to a wreath ring or coat hanger. Fresh greens, fruit and flowers are inserted into a florist form that is soaked in water to provide hydration for a special occasion or funeral.
-
6
Construct the wreath design according to the sketch that you have drawn.
