1
Subscribe to HD channels from your cable or satellite service provider. There is no point in making your TV HD-ready if you have no HD programming to watch. Call your provider and ask if there are any HD programming packages to which you can subscribe.
-
2
Buy an HDMI cable, which stands for High-Definition Multimedia Interface. An HDMI cable will take the HD signal provided by your cable or satellite box and send it directly to your TV screen. You can find an HDMI cable in virtually any electronics store.

3
Connect the HDMI cable to the cable or satellite box, which will have a special HDMI port on the back. Connect the other end into your TV screen, which should also have an HDMI port in the back.
-
4
Locate the HD channels. Ask your service provider for a list of channels that are available with your package, or ask if there is a channel guide available online.
