Turn the engine off and allow the engine to completely cool down before beginning the work. Pull the hood-release lever under the dashboard on the driver's side of the vehicle to open the hood. Disconnect the positive and negative cables from the terminals on the battery.

Place a drain pan underneath the radiator. Unscrew and remove the cap from the radiator. If you cannot remove it with your hand, use a flathead screwdriver to pry off the cap. This must be done before disconnecting the radiator hoses. Remove the lower radiator hose. Loosen the screw on the hose clamp with a nut driver, turning the screw counterclockwise. This will allow you to loosen the band clamp and remove the radiator hose from the radiator fitting.

Use a wrench to remove the mounting bolts from the bottom of the alternator. Lift the alternator belt off the alternator and out of the vehicle. Remove the alternator from its bracket. Use a ratchet to release the belt tensioners on the serpentine and fan belts. Turn the lug on the tensioner until it comes loose. Lift both belts from the assembly.

Remove the four mounting bolts that hold the water pump assembly in place on the timing cover Use the ratchet to remove the nut on the water pump pulley tensioner. Once the tensioner has been loosened lift the water pump belt out of the assembly. Move the drain pan underneath the water pump to catch any coolant that spills out of the component. Carefully disconnect the electrical connectors that are connected to the water pump. Lift the water pump out of the vehicle.

Attach the new water pump in the same position from which you removed the old one. Fix in place with the mounting bolts at a torque of 33 foot-pounds.

Reattach the water pump belt and tighten the water pump tensioner with a torque wrench to fix it in place. Fix the serpentine and fan belts back in the positions from which you removed them and tighten them in place by firmly tightening the nuts on their tensioners with a torque wrench.
