Master Cleanser is a program created by Stanley Burroughs that is a 10-day fast to detoxify and rejuvenate the body. The program is touted to re-energize the body, expel toxins and induce weight loss. The only nourishment you take during this program is a lemonade concoction made from lemon juice, maple syrup, cayenne pepper and water. This special mixture contains about 110 calories in sugar carbohydrates, which provides nutrients and fuel to get through each day.

      Remove all processed foods, meat and dairy from your diet. Stop drinking alcohol, coffee, tea and cola. Smokers are advised to abstan while on the Master Cleanser diet. No foods or drinks other than the lemonade concoction, plain water and mint tea are ingested.

      Prepare a salt water flush each morning of the detoxification cleansing program. This flush will eliminate waste from your bowels. Mix 1 to 2 tsp. of organic sea salt, not iodized salt, with 25 to 35 oz. of warm water in a large glass. Stir well and drink the entire solution. Salt water flushes are recommended in the morning before the lemonade concoction to effectively empty your stomach and bowels.

      Cut the lemon in half with the knife. Juice each half on a hand juicer to extract the lemon juice. Add the lemon juice to a drinking glass or cup. Add 2 tbsp. of grade B or C maple syrup and 1/10 tsp. of cayenne pepper powder. Pour 8 ounces of filtered water in the glass and mix immediately. Drink the entire mixture. Imbibe from six to 12 glasses of the lemonade mixture each day for up to 10 days. The mixture is your nourishment and energy source.

Tips & Warnings

  • Store fresh lemons on the kitchen counter to ripen, not in the refrigerator, since the enzymes will go dormant.

  • Drink pure water frequently throughout the day to assist the cleansing process.

  • Do not use canned lemon juice or canned lemons, since they lack the necessary vitamins and nutrients.

  • Avoid grade A maple syrup, which lacks the minerals of the unfiltered grade B or C varieties.

  • Consult a physician before attempting the Master Cleanser detoxification diet.
