How to Make a Floor With Recycled Dog Food Bags

How to Make a Floor With Recycled Dog Food Bags thumbnail
The larger the dog food bag, the more space you can cover.

Sometimes you need a makeshift floor for a certain activity, such as painting a room or side of a house, or when creating a messy art project. Such floors can also replace dirt floors in basements or children's playhouses. Whatever your reason for creating a floor out of recycled dog food bags, you can feel good about reusing the bags, as opposed to throwing them out. The only mildly challenging aspect of this project is collecting enough dog food bags from which to construct your floor.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut the tops off the bags, including the string that holds most dog food bags together. Also cut the bags down the sides -- and make any other necessary cuts -- so they will lie flat on the floor. Ensure that no dog food particles remain on the bags, because this can attract insects.

    • 2

Glue the edges of the bags together with a durable glue. Glue the edges so all the same sides are facing up.

    • 3

Allow the glue to dry thoroughly overnight. Place your recycled dog bag floor where needed.

Tips & Warnings

  • Ask friends and relatives to save their empty dog food bags for you to collect.

  • Fold up your dog food bag floor to use as makeshift seat padding.
