How to Record With a Computer Mic
Windows 7 allows you to easily record sounds from your microphone via the included program, appropriately named Sound Recorder. Most computer motherboards or sound cards have a microphone input port, where you can attach your microphone. This will allow sounds to be entered into your computer. With the appropriate software, such as Sound Recorder, you can record anything the microphone can pick up.

Attach your microphone to your computer. This will require attaching the 3.5 mm plug on the end of your microphone to the port labeled with "microphone" or a graphic representation of a microphone. If you follow your speaker cables, they should lead you very close to the actual port. Some microphones attach via USB, so you can simply plug those into an small, rectangular USB port.
