How to Make a Double Grapevine Wreath
Grapevine wreaths are a natural accent for any room or as an outdoor decoration. The wreaths are easy to make with pliable vines. They are available at craft stores in many shapes and sizes. To make a double wreath you have the choice of making a smaller wreath inside a larger one, side-by-side wreaths or even a figure eight shape. Decorate a double wreath to match your room decor, personal color and decoration preference or in a particular theme to give as a gift.
Things You'll Need

- Nature items (optional)
Instructions

Small Wreath Inside Large Wreath
-
1
Cut grapevines into easy-to-manage lengths, typically about 4 feet or longer. Cut several vines to make full-looking wreaths. Get enough vines to make a large and a smaller wreath.
-
2
Make the larger wreath first. According to the desired size, wrap a length of grapevine in a circular shape. Continue wrapping until the first vine is used up.
-
-
3
Wrap additional vines around the first one. Attach each new vine by sticking the first few inches of vine into the wreath. Weave the vine in and out of the original shape to create a woven look. Continue to add and wrap vines until you achieve the desired fullness of the wreath. Weave the last few inches of each vine, including the last one, into the wreath to hold it in place.
-
4
Cut small pieces of craft wire. Weave and twist the wire pieces around the vines to hold them more closely together, if desired.
-
5
Make a second grapevine wreath, smaller than the first one. Create a wreath that is just slightly smaller than the first one if a close fit is desired. Make a smaller wreath that will freely swing inside the larger one if that is the double-wreath look you wish to have.
-
6
Decorate one or both wreaths with ribbons and craft materials as desired. Place the smaller wreath inside the larger one. Tie a ribbon onto the small wreath, then around the top edge of the large wreath, if a "free floating" look is desired. Use craft wire to attach the small wreath inside the large one if you wish to have a tight-fitting look for the double wreath.
Side-by-Side Wreath
-
7
Follow Steps 1 through 4 in Section 1 to create a grapevine wreath. Make a second wreath the same size or slightly smaller, if desired.
-
8
Attach the two wreaths, side-by-side. Use craft wire, vine pieces or ribbon.
-
9
Decorate the double wreath with ribbons and craft or natural materials as desired.
Figure Eight Wreath
-
10
Follow the basic procedure in Section 1, Steps 1 through 4 to construct a wreath. Form the wreath into a figure eight shape rather than a circle.
-
11
Weave craft wire or smaller vine pieces to hold the wreath in it's figure eight shape. Hide the ends inside the wreath as much as possible.
-
12
Decide whether to hang the figure-eight shaped double wreath where the loops are side-by-side or one above the other.
-
13
Decorate the figure-eight wreath as desired, with craft or natural materials.
