How to Go Green and Benefit Society
When you do something that has an effect on your surrounding community, this is considered "social impact." Social impact includes the preservation, reduction or addition of value for the common good. Going green means that you have decided to lead a lifestyle, which can include running a business, that is kind to the environment and to humans, and which doesn't deplete natural resources. It involves recycling and repurposing products and doesn't expose people to unnecessary toxins. When you go green it definitely has a social impact on your neighbors and your community, as well as on the world.

Choose to be environmentally aware. Every choice you make has an impact, and you can control your choices. Going green can improve your health and your environment and can save you money. In the process, you also can save animals by not wearing fur, conserve water by taking shorter showers and not let the water run while you brush your teeth, and conserve resources by recycling, among other choices.

Turn your kitchen into an eco-friendly environment. You will eliminate toxins that can destroy your health and that of your loved ones as well as eliminate non-biodegradable trash that ends up in a dump site. If you remodel your kitchen, use materials that someone else has disposed of, such as pieces of wood or glass and metal that can be utilized in some form in your kitchen, also known as re-purposing.

If you are a corporate entity or business owner, take measures to go green and help save the environment. Steps you take can assist people who are on the other side of the world as well as your local community. According to Kevin Voigt for CNN, companies worldwide are adopting the "triple bottom line," which measures the financial well being of the company as well as how the company is impacting society and the environment.
Reducing greenhouse emissions is to everyone's benefit. When a company makes efforts to reduce its waste, this, too, benefits all societies. Conserving water has become a priority with many large companies. Using solar energy and wind energy is a green alternative and an excellent way to reduce energy consumption. Even using light bulbs that burn less energy helps. Going green generally requires an initial financial investment by an individual or company. The health of workers also improves in a green company, which reduces sick days and health insurance costs, notes the Illinois CPA Society.

A cleaner world is a healthier world. Participate in recycling, which saves energy and landfill space, prevents pollution, and conserves natural resources, and buy recycled products. Ourearth.org notes that recycling one ton of paper saves 17 mature trees, two barrels of oil, 4,100 kilowatt hours of electricity, three cubic yards of landfill space and 7,000 gallons of water.
