How to Repel Raccoons From the Property
Raccoons may be cute animals to look at but the havoc they wreck can go beyond tolerance. They make your attic their home, rip a hole in your roofs, tear insulation off pipes and damage wires. They rip apart food bags, knock down trash bags and make the house a colossal wreck in general. And since these mammals are omnivorous, your fish and birds could end up as food for them. Fleas and other parasites inherent to the wild may also enter your homes through raccoons. Even greater is the contamination risk that raccoons can cause with their body wastes. Raccoon's excrement can contain raccoon roundworm, which is transferable to human beings. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Keep trash and garbage cans well-closed to prevent raccoons from breaking them open. Secure the lid of the trash can with bungee cords.
-
2
Avoid leaving pet foods in the yard. Since raccoons are not particular about the type of foods they consume, they just invade your pet foods. Keep your kennels locked too.

3
Check for any holes in the attic and close them. Secure decks with a steel mesh barrier if raccoons are getting below the decks. If it is your swimming pool that the raccoons are attracted to, make the pools unfavorable for them by placing a board with spikes on the steps.

Install a "floppy fence" to keep raccoons out of your garden. Use chicken wire for this purpose. Roll out the chicken wire and erect it over your standard fence. Fasten the bottom of the chicken fence with the top of the standard fence. Leave the top of the chicken wire without any support. When the raccoon climbs your fence and reaches the chicken wire, the chicken wire folds down under the weight of the raccoon causing the raccoon to fall down.
