1
Set up a knife-throwing target in a safe area, ensuring that no people or objects may be accidentally damaged behind, in front of or around the target.

Hold a small throwing knife in your hand so it is in line with your forearm and it is pinched between your thumb and forefinger. If the knife has one sharpened edge, face the sharp edge away from the inside of your hand.

3
Stand with the foot on the opposite side of your body from your throwing arm forward so that your legs form a 45-degree angle.
-
4
Hold your shoulders parallel and pull back the forearm of your knife throwing arm.
-
5
Whip your throwing arm forward and lean your body forward at the same time, keeping your shoulders even.
-
6
Release the knife from your thumb and forefinger grip and finish the full motion of the throw.
-
7
Take note of the number of revolutions the knife turns when thrown. This is your turn number, which you can use to calculate whether the handle or blade end of the knife will hit the target. Increase or decrease your distance if the handle end of the blade is striking the target.
