How to Replace Luggage Hardware

How to Replace Luggage Hardware thumbnail
Many luggage companies offer warranty and repair services.

Many types of luggage use plastic inline housings and polymer wheels. In addition, there are handles, locks, retractable housings and specialized quick clips and zippers associated with these travel bags. If you have luggage with worn out or broken hardware you have options to locate these hard to find items. Often, luggage makers offer warranty and repair services on the products.

Instructions

    • 1

Phone the luggage maker. Many times the luggage comes with paperwork that includes a toll free customer service number. Phone this number and provide the phone clerk with your luggage model and make. If possible, provide the serial number. Ask the phone clerk if replacement parts are available, if they are covered under warranty or if the company will service and replace the parts through their service department.

Scour flea markets or aftermarket stores looking for similar bags or luggage. Purchase the bags and use the parts from the luggage to replace on your existing luggage.

    • 3

Locate the parts using online luggage stores. For example, Ohio Travel Bag offers hard to find luggage replacement parts and hardware. Provide the luggage make, model and serial number if possible to bring up a list of available replacement hardware and parts.
