How to Mix Paint & Glaze for the Ragging Technique
When it comes to painting techniques, ragging refers to the process of applying a paint glaze with a crumpled rag. This method of application results in a random mottled pattern. Usually the glaze is applied over a wall already painted in a complementary color for a soft look or a contrasting color for bold results. Things You'll Need
- 8 oz. of glazing liquid
- Plastic bucket
- 3 oz. of mineral spirits
- 1 oz. of walnut oil
- Wooden paint stirring stick
- 4 oz. of oil based enamel paint

Pour 8 oz. of glazing liquid into a bucket.

Add 3 oz. of mineral spirits and 1 oz. of walnut oil to the bucket.

Stir the ingredients in the bucket together with a wooden paint stirring stick.

Pour 4 oz. of oil based enamel paint into the bucket while stirring the mixture. Keep stirring until the glaze has a uniform color and appearance. It will look like thinned paint.

Mix enough glaze to complete your entire project to avoid mismatched colors due to different batches.
You can increase or decrease the amount of mineral spirits to make the glaze thinner or thicker as needed.
