If you are looking for a way to jump start your diet and motivate yourself, losing ten pounds of water weight is a relatively easy way to do it. Water weight is the excess weight that your body carries around that has not been converted into fat and that is why it can be lost quickly. It is the reason that you are lighter in the morning when you step on the scale than you were the night before. The methods for losing these ten pounds cannot be sustained or applied to any additional pounds you want to lose, but they will work for those first ten.
Eliminate sugar and flour. Getting rid of sugar almost goes without saying. This means that you should avoid all types of candy and junk food, as well as baked goods, pizza and pastries.
Load up on carbohydrates through vegetables only. Everyone needs some form of carbs to give them energy to make it through the day, so on this diet you should make sure to eat lots of vegetables. Every meal should consist of vegetables only, specifically green and leafy ones, for about a week or until you lose the weight. Avoid crackers, breads, pretzels and cereals and other starches such as rice and potatoes.
Start every day with breakfast and keep your meals small. Instead of your usual three meals have five smaller ones. Never let yourself get too hungry, or you will be prone to breaking your diet. Keep some carrot or celery sticks on hand to munch if you feel your stomach rumbling.
Stay hydrated. Although it may seem counterintuitive, you need to drink lots of water in order to lose the water weight. Keep a water bottle on you and drink plenty throughout the day.
Exercise for at least 30 minutes a day. Set aside time for a real exercise break, such as half an hour of biking, running, walking or playing a sport, but keep yourself active for the rest of the day as well. Run up the stairs to answer the farther phone or park at the end of the parking lot. Take your kids outside for a game of tag and keep yourself moving as much as possible.
