How to Send Longer SMS Messages on a BlackBerry

How to Send Longer SMS Messages on a BlackBerry thumbnail
BlackBerry phones can send long messages.

BlackBerry phones allow the owner to send SMS messages to any of her contacts. The problem with the SMS messages on the phone is that it only allows a message of 160 characters, which can limit each message and require additional messages to send all of the information. Notwithstanding the limit of 160 characters, it is possible to send longer messages on the BlackBerry.

Instructions

    • 1

Select "Messages" on the phone and then click the BlackBerry symbol button on the phone.

    • 2

Select "Compose MMS" and click on the contact. Select the phone number or email to send the message to. If the contact is not yet set in the phone, select "Use Once" and either the "Phone" or "Email" option. Type in the phone or email address and then select "Enter."

    • 3

Type in the message. MMS will allow you to type more than 160 characters and will have the phone break up the message as it sends it.

    • 4

Press the BlackBerry symbol button and then press "Send." The message is sent to the email address or phone number entered.

Tips & Warnings

  • It is possible to type longer messages using other BlackBerry applications as well, but those apps cost more.
