1
Contact your state department or browse its website. Typically, you'll need a business license number in order to access wholesale lots. Each state will have different requirements for obtaining one, and it may take as little as a few minutes to a few months to receive it.
-
2
Browse wholesale music distributors. You can ask other music businesses in town where they get their merchandise, or you can search on the web. Helpful wholesale websites include Super D and Whole Sale Music Club.

Consider drop shipping some of your items. This is a process in which a company offers you a product at a discounted rate, giving you the chance to inflate the price in your store to gain a profit. Once a customer purchases the item, you will send in your order and the company will send the item to the customer with your label on it. This is particularly useful for small start-up businesses. Ask distributors if they participate in a program like that.

Keep up with the trends in music, musical instruments and sheet music in order to stock your business with the best selling items. Always keep note of what is selling well and what isn't.
