How to Make Decorative Sugar for Tea

Whether you are having a ladies tea party, gifting a tea set, or simply enjoying a cup of tea on your own, you can enhance your tea drinking experience with decorative sugars. Decorative sugars are simple to make and add a personal touch to your and your friends' tea time. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons water
  • Food coloring
  • Candy molds
  • Small mixing bowl
  • Wax paper

Instructions

      Pour cup of sugar into mixing bowl.

      Add 1 1/2 to 2 tbsp. of water to the sugar and stir. The sugar mix should be the consistency of wet sand.

      Add one or two drops of your choice of food coloring into the sugar and water mix.

      Stir the sugar, water, and food coloring together.

      Press the sugar into the candy molds and let set for one minute. Any shape of candy molds will work for this; try using holiday themed molds like Christmas trees for a Christmas party.

      Flip the mold over on to the wax paper to release the decorative sugars.

      Dry the sugars overnight on the wax paper.

      Store in an airtight container until needed, or place in gift bags to add flair to tea gifts.
