How to Make a Wood Necklace Stand
Having a necklace stand allows you to store several necklaces in a manner in which their beauty can be displayed, while avoiding the mess of tangling that would occur if they were in a jewelry box. The stand is perfect for use in a bedroom, dressing room or master bathroom. Creating a necklace stand is a simple task that does not require large hand tools or extensive directions to complete.
Things You'll Need
- One 1-inch solid wood cube
- One solid rectangle, 2-by-2-by-4 inches
- One half-inch dowel rod, 12 inches long
- Four half-inch dowel rods, 8 inches long
- Popsicle stick
- Pencil
- Drill
- Half-inch drill bit
- Wood glue
Instructions

1
Place the rectangle on a flat surface so the 4-inch long side is facing up. Use the popsicle stick as a guide to draw a faint pencil line from opposite corner to opposite corner to create an "X" on the surface.
-
2
Drill a hole down through the center of the "X" using the half-inch drill bit. Drill down through the entire thickness of the rectangle.

3
Place the 1-inch solid wood cube on a flat surface. Use the popsicle stick as a guide to draw a faint pencil line from opposite corner to opposite corner to create an "X" on the surface. Turn the cube to the left one time and repeat this process.
-
4
Drill a hole down through the center of the "X" using the half-inch drill bit. Drill down through the entire thickness of the cube. Turn the cube and repeat this step. This will create a half-inch passage way between all four sides of the cube.
-
5
Place the wood cube on a flat surface so the drilled holes are through the sides and the face of the cube that is facing upward is not drilled. Use the popsicle stick as a guide to draw a faint pencil line from opposite corner to opposite corner to create an "X" on the surface.
-
6
Drill down through the solid wood cube with the half-inch drill bit half way, until you reach the drilled tunnels.
-
7
Apply wood glue to both ends of the 12-inch dowel rod. Insert one end into the hole in the rectangle until the end touches the surface below the rectangle. Place the 1-inch cube on the top end through the hole drilled in Step 6.
-
8
Fill in all four side holes on the cube with wood glue. Insert one 8-inch dowel rod into each hole until it reaches the center dowel. Once complete, the necklace stand will appear to be a 1-inch cube with an 8-inch dowel sticking out all four sides to support the necklaces placed on it. The cube will be elevated by the 12-inch dowel, supported by a rectangular base. Allow wood glue to set completely before using.
