How to Use Rowing Machines Effectively
Rowing machines are an effective piece of workout equipment. They are one of the most difficult to use because they are strenuous. Rowing machines provide a full-body workout. To use rowing machines effectively is more difficult than is using treadmills or elliptical machines. When using a rowing machine, pay attention to the sequence. It is much like when using the treadmill. Once you get the right body posture and rhythm going, this will be an effective and challenging workout.

Sit on the rowing machine. Lean forward slightly, with your elbows close to your body. Hold onto the handlebars with both of your hands.

Push with your legs until they are almost straight. Tilt your back slightly and do not move your arms yet. Lean your body just a bit forward with your arms straight and shins vertical.

Pull the handlebars until they touch your chest. At the same time, push with your legs. Lean back, with the elbows going back, and continue pulling with your arms.

Lean forward from your hips. Bend your knees and slide forward.
