How to Make an Oval Wedding Veil
An oval wedding veil is similar to a traditional wedding veil. The primary differences are that the sides of the oval style veil are very straight and the bottom corners of the veil are round instead. For the length of the veil, you can choose from shoulder-length, elbow-length or fingertip-length. You can buy oval veils at any bridal store or have one custom made. If you know how to sew, you can also make your own veil. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Measure the length from the top of your head to your shoulders, elbows or fingertips. Use a soft measuring tape to measure the length from the top of your head where you are going to place the veil to your shoulders, elbows or fingertips to determine the length you need to make the veil. Standard lengths for veils are 30 inches for a shoulder-length veil and 36 inches for the elbow-length veil.

2
Place the tulle on a flat surface. Measure the length of the fabric to the measurement in Step 1.

-
3
Bunch or gather the tulle fabric together at the top, which is the part you will attach to the hair comb.
-
4
Place the hair comb under the bunched up fabric. Face the teeth of the comb away from the front of the veil. Use the needle and thread to sew the bunch to the edge of the comb.
-
5
Lay the veil on a flat surface. Cut the bottom right corner into a curve. Repeat for the left right corner of the veil.
-
6
Lay the ribbon or cording around the edge of the veil. Fold the ribbon in half so that one piece is on the front of the veil and the other half is on the inside part of the veil. Use straight pins to hold the ribbon or cording in place.
-
7
Use a sewing machine to stitch the ribbon or cording to the edge of the veil.
-
8
Decorate the headpiece. You can add a floral pin, crystals, fabric flowers or other décor to the top of the comb to cover the bunching and stitching. You can also use fabric glue to tape a ribbon to the top of the comb. Use a ribbon that is wide enough to cover the bunching and stitching.
