Eight gigabytes may represent thousands of MP3s.

Eight gigabytes of music may contain thousands of songs and other audio files. You may not have this much music on your computer, but if you are copying your entire CD collection, it could easily take up 8 gigabytes. Copying huge music files from one computer to another may take a bit of time without the convenience of a flash drive, but there are still many ways to do it.

Instructions

    • 1

Find all of the music files that you want to copy. Right click on the Start menu and choose "Open Windows Explorer." Browse to the different locations where you have saved your music. A common place might be in the "My Documents" folder within a subfolder called "My Music." Select all of the files, right click on them and choose "Copy."

Put a blank CD or DVD in your computer's optical drive. A CD or DVD is not large enough to hold 8 gigabytes, so you must use several. You will probably need about 3 DVDs or about 14 CDs.

    • 3

Right click in the open folder area and choose "Paste" to copy the files onto the CD or DVD. After pasting, go to the "File" menu and choose "Burn to disc."

Move the disk to the second computer. Copy the files from the disk and paste them into the hard drive of the computer.
