How to Remove Beer Smell From Carpet
If you had a little too much fun during the weekend and have the beer scented carpet to prove it, do not panic. Before you call in an expensive cleaning professional, try using a home cleaning remedy. This cleaning technique is simple to execute and does not require the use of harsh chemicals. The main active ingredient is vinegar. The vinegar removes stains and will also neutralize the smell of the beer. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- White paper towels
- 1 tbsp. white vinegar
- Medium-size bowl
- 1 tbsp. dish detergent
- 2 cups warm water
- Clean sponge
- Small bowl
- Cold water
- 2 clean white rags

Use white paper towels to blot any excess beer from the carpet if necessary.

Pour 1 tbsp. of white vinegar into a medium-size bowl.

Add 1 tbsp. of dish detergent and 2 cups of warm water into the bowl.

Dip a clean sponge into the bowl and allow it to absorb a moderate amount of the liquid.

Blot the smelly portion of the carpet with the sponge.

Repeat Steps 4 and 5 two more times.

Fill a small bowl with cool water.

Dip a clean white rag into the bowl of cool water.

Use the wet rag to remove the vinegar solution from the carpet.

Use a clean dry white rag to blot excess moisture from the area. Let the carpet air dry.

This process may have to be repeated if the beer smell is still detectable after the carpet is dry.
Do not use liquid dish detergent that contains bleach because it can fade the carpet.
