Use a strong cleanser to remove difficult stains from your stove.

Stains on stoves can normaly be removed using a mild, all-purpose cleanser. However, some stains can be challenging and require something stronger to eliminate them. Stronger cleansers are typically effective, but they are also potentially caustic, meaning they can burn or irritate skin if they come in contact with it. Therefore, always wear gloves, goggles and long-sleeved shirts when cleaning with heavy-duty, caustic cleaning products. You may have to take precautions when using such materials, but they are often successful in removing difficult stains and will leave your stove looking clean and sanitary. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Open the windows in your kitchen or turn on a fan. Ventilation is important when cleaning since you will be using a strong cleanser to remove the more difficult stains from your stove.

    • 2

Pour 1 gallon of water into a bucket. Add 1/2 tbsp. of trisodium phosphate -- a heavy-duty cleanser -- to the water. Mix the liquids together thoroughly.

    • 3

Dip a sponge into the solution and scrub the stains on the stove. Depending on how deep and challenging the stains are, you may have to scrub for a few minutes before the stain dissolves away.

    • 4

Rinse the stove with water when the stain is gone. Wash the stove with hot, soapy water afterward to remove any residual cleanser. Rinse the soap off of the stove and then dry.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not add more trisodium phosphate to your cleaning solution than is recommended, as it could take the paint off or damage the stove's surface.

  • Clean your stove after each use to prevent difficult stains from forming.

  • Look for trisodium phosphate at the hardware store.
