Most perfumes have a strong scent.

When perfume soaks into dressers, it leaves an odor. Whether the odor came from a spill or some of the spray landing on the surface, the removal technique is the same. Remove the smell quickly to ensure success. The longer the perfume has to soak into the dresser, the more difficult the odor is to eradicate. The cleaner needs to soak into the wood to kill the perfume smell and clean it off the surface.

Step 1

Sprinkle a thick layer of baking soda over the area. In addition to absorbing odors, it will soak up any liquid perfume. Leave the baking soda on the dresser for eight to 10 hours.

Step 2

Use a regular sponge.

Wet a sponge with water and wring it out. Wipe the baking soda off with the sponge. Rinse out the sponge after every two swipes. This also helps remove any leftover perfume or residue.

Step 3

Pour the vinegar into the spray bottle and screw on the lid. Spray the surface with the vinegar. Do not soak it. Let the vinegar soak into the dresser to kill the odors.

Step 4

Cut a lemon in half with a knife. Rub the lemon half over the area if it still smells. Allow the lemon juice to soak into the wood.
