How to Make a Sympathy Card for Pets

Losing a beloved pet is one of the most difficult times in a person's life, especially when that pet is like a family member. If someone you know has recently suffered the death of a pet, one way to show you care is by making a sympathy card. In a time of sorrow and mourning, a homemade sympathy card can help brighten a person's day and show him that his pet will not be forgotten.

Things You'll Need

• Paper or card stock
• Photo of the pet
• Glue stick
• Markers, crayons or colored pens
• Glitter

Instructions

1. 

   Fold your paper down the center so it creates a book-like shape.

   Take the paper or card stock, and fold it down the center, creating a book-like shape. If the card stock is thick, you may want to use a ruler or other straight-edged object to run along the crease using mild pressure to ensure the fold is complete.

2. 

   Take a photo of the beloved pet, and glue it to the front cover of the card.

   Take the photo of the deceased pet, and glue it to the cover using the glue stick. Use markers, crayons or colored pens to write the pet's name, as well as birth and death dates below the photo. You can also add decorative touches around the photo to make a frame.

3. 

   Write a note of sympathy on the front of the card.

   Write a few words expressing your sympathy above the photo. Use colored pens, markers or crayons to decorate the words.

4. 

   Write a personalized note on the inside of the card.

   Open the card to write a personalized note to the recipient. You can include your own favorite memories of the pet or words of encouragement to the owner.

5. 

   Add personal touches by drawing pictures, symbols or words of encouragement inside the card.

   Decorate the inside of the card by drawing a frame around the note and using your glitter, colored pens, crayons and markers to draw pictures, symbols or notes of support and encouragement.
