How to Connect a Surround System to Your Stereo
Stereo systems typically come with two speakers, allowing you to enjoy your music and audio equipment connected to the device. However, if you are looking to increase the overall volume and speaker coverage of the stereo equipment, it is actually possible to directly hook up your stereo to a surround sound system. This adds an additional five to seven different speakers to your system.

Plug the RCA audio cables into the "Audio Out" ports on your stereo system.

Insert the opposite ends of the RCA audio cables into the "Audio In" ports on your surround sound system.

Power on the stereo and the surround sound system, then select the audio input you have the receiver connected to. The audio from the stereo now plays directly through the surround sound.
