How to Build a Dog Wash Station thumbnail
Your own washing station puts your dog's cleanliness in your hands.

If grooming your dog is a monthly expenditure you want to eliminate, you can build your own dog washing station. Although there will be an initial investment of time, money and effort, you will save money in the long run. You can build your dog washing station inside your own home by utilizing or modifying existing fixtures and areas. Spend quality time with your pet at home, without the hassle of a trip to the groomers.

Instructions

    • 1

Install a tub or sink in the area of your home that you think would be best for a dog washing station, if one does not already exist. Provide adequate room for both of you during the washing process.

    • 2

Attach spray head nozzles or shower heads to the tub or sink so you can have a larger reach with the water and easily get all your pet's nooks and crannies clean.

    • 3

Lay a rubber mat on the bottom of the sink or tub to keep your dog from slipping during washing. Place dog shampoo in an accessible area. If there isn't an inset shelf built into the sink or tub, you can use a hanging shower rack.

    • 4

Place a hairdryer, towels and laundry basket nearby for completing your dog washing station. Create this area for drying your dog and disposing of wet towels.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use an existing tub, sink or shower in your bathroom or kitchen for your dog washing station; this will eliminate the cost and hassle of installations. Wag N' Wash suggests using a stainless steel wash basin and disinfecting between each use for your dog's health. Stock shelving near the tub or sink with aprons, towels, nail clippers, scissors and an electric shaver if you want to turn your dog washing station into a complete grooming station.
