Like most wireless networks, Sprint allows users to download ringtones to customize their phone. Most of these ringtones are not free. If you wish to frequently change your ringtone or use a different one for each person on your contacts list, the cost of ringtones will add up quickly. Luckily, you can format audio files that you already own and turn them into Sprint ringtones.

        Purchase, download or create a sound file that you wish to use as your Sprint ringtone. You may wish to use one of your favorite songs. Locate this song in your "My Computer" window. Press the "Start" button and scroll to "My Computer." Click the "Music" tab on the left side of the window and browse through the sound files until you find the correct sound file.

        Right-click on the music file. Click "Open With" and select a media converting program such as Format Factory, NCH or Zamzar. If you do not have a media converting program, you can download one of these, or others, for free online.

        Press the "Export" button on the bottom of the program. Select "File Type" and scroll to "MP3" or "WAV" These are the two formats you can use for Sprint ringtones.

        Put the ringtone on your Sprint phone using the USB cable included with the phone.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Typically, ringtones are about 30 seconds in length. For best results, use a sound file this size.
