Hair becomes dry when the follicles, that house each individual hair, stop producing as much keratin -- a type of protein that produces an oily substance. Dry hair tends to look dull, thin and lifeless and needs a lot of nourishment and looking after in order to restore it back to a better, healthier looking condition. The following three methods can be used to liven up your hair and make it look less dry.

Coconut and Gram Flour Conditioner

Mix one can of coconut milk and 2 tbsp. of gram flour together in a bowl.

Apply the mix to the scalp and massage in thoroughly making sure all the hair is covered.

Wrap the head in cling-film or a tight shower cap and leave for 10 minutes.

Remove the cling-film and rinse. Your hair should feel soft and you should notice the dryness has improved. Use once a week for as long as you want.

Olive and Almond Oil Conditioner

Mix together 6 tbsp. of olive oil and 6 tbsp. of almond oil in a pan and heat on a low heat -- no hotter than 50 degrees C, or 122 degrees F.

Apply the oil mix to the hair, ensuring that all the hair is covered. Massage gently into the scalp.

Wrap the head in cling-film or a tight shower cap and leave for 10 minutes.

Remove the cling-film and rinse.

Apply your normal shampoo and conditioner then rinse. This will remove all the oil. Your hair should feel soft and you should notice the dryness has improved. Use once a week for as long as you want.

Lavender and Coconut Oil Conditioner

Mix together one can of coconut oil and a tsp. of lavender oil then heat on a low temperature -- no hotter than 50 degrees C, or 122 degrees F.

Apply the mixture to the hair, ensuring that the whole head is covered.

Wrap the head in cling-film or a tight shower cap and leave over night.

Remove the cling-film the next morning and rinse thoroughly then shampoo and condition as you would normally do. Do this twice a week for quick results.

Warning

Do not heat the oil to more than the suggested temperature. Anything higher may burn the scalp or feel too hot.
