Businesses and affiliate marketers regularly use promotion codes to generate new business. Promotion codes offer customers a one-time bonus or discount for their patronage. For a business owner with many promotion codes or an affiliate marketer with many companies, keeping track of what may be hundreds of promotional codes can be difficult. Be sure to put organized systems in place to easily track your business due to promotional codes.
Open a new file in your spreadsheet program. Name it "Promotional Codes."
Enter the following values in row A:
A1: Code A2: Deal A3: Date Started A4: Expiration Date A5: Number Sent (number of promotional emails or promotional article views) A6: Number Used
Enter the appropriate information for each of your promotional codes, starting with row B and continuing downward.
Type "=(A6/A5)" into cell A7. Click the lower-right corner of this cell and drag that value downward to the end of your information. This provides you with the conversion rate of each promotion code.
Update the number sent and number used information weekly, which automatically updates your conversion rates. Save each new spreadsheet as a separate file for tracking purposes.
Optimize your promotional marketing by eliminating promotional codes that have the lowest conversion rates, and create codes similar to your higher converting codes.
