How to Collect Payments Using a Mobile Phone
With the advance in technology and the fast-paced business world, it is possible to collect payments on the go using your mobile phone. Payment processing gateways, such as PayPal, allow you to collect credit card or electronic check payments straight from your smartphone, such as an iPhone, Android or BlackBerry. PayPal, Paynet Systems and Merchant Warehouse are three of the cell phone payment processors available.

Download the PayPal app to your phone (see References).

Log into your PayPal account through the app on your cell phone.

Click on the "Request" button at the bottom of the app screen.

Type in the email address of the person you are collecting a payment from in the Request Money From box. The amount screen pops up.

Type in the amount of the payment you want to collect and then click the "Next" button.

Review the request to make sure everything is correct. You can also type in a message in the Message box. The recipient is able to read the message you type into this box.

Click on the "Request" button at the bottom of the screen. Your payment request is sent to the recipient.

Click the "Account" button at the bottom of the screen while logged into the mobile app. The balance available in your account is at the top of the screen. When you receive a payment, you can collect it by clicking on the "Withdraw" option from this screen.

Click on the bank account you want to transfer the money to and then click the "Add Amount" button at the bottom of the Withdraw screen.

Type in the amount you want to withdraw or collect. Click the "Next" button.

Click the button to submit your request from the Review screen. The money transfers into the bank account you chose. The transfer can take up to five days to complete.
Paynet Systems

Download the Paynet Systems app to your cell phone. Paynet Systems offers an app for the iPhone, Android and BlackBerry as of 2010.

Click on the "Process Card" option in the navigation bar from the Get Started screen.

Type the credit card number, expiration month and expiration year into the appropriate boxes. Input the amount of the charge in the Amount box.

Enter the optional information, which is the Card Verification Value, email address, full name and billing address for the card.

Tap the "Submit" button and you receive a Transaction Approved page or a Denial page if the charge did not go through.
Merchant Warehouse

Download the Merchant Warehouse app.

Press the terminal screen in the navigation bar.

Type the credit card number, expiration date and the amount you want to charge on the appropriate lines.

Tap the "Process" button. If the charge is approved, you see a Transaction Approved screen. If the charge is denied, you see a Transaction Denied screen.

Tips & Warnings
If you have a different payment processor, check with the company to see if it has a mobile phone app. Even if it does not offer an app for your smartphone, you can typically process payments with your mobile phone if you have Internet access on your phone and the capability to process credit card payments online.
