How to Record Streaming in QuickTime

Recording streaming QuickTime video is possible even though QuickTime does not support this feature natively. The Windows Media Encoder (which is built into Windows 7) can record screen-capture movies of anything. The setup takes about 15 minutes. The video file that is produced is readable by Quicktime, Windows Media or any other video codec player that runs on Windows 7 run time environments.

Instructions

    • 1

Start the QuickTime stream on your desktop. Ensure that the video can run and then pause it so that you can start the Windows Media Encoder. Click on the "Start" button on your start bar. Click on "All Programs" and then on "Windows Media." Finally, click on "Windows Media Encoder."

Select "Specific Window" from the next window, because you will just be capturing the specific QuickTime window. Click "Next," then in the text bar enter the name you want to give to the file. Click "Next" and then select the quality you want for the movie file. Click "Finish" to start the recording process.
