How to Transfer Telecine 8mm Video to a DVD

How to Transfer Telecine 8mm Video to a DVD thumbnail
You can have your 8mm film transfered onto a DVD.

Telecine is a film development center that takes your movie film negative and transforms it into usable footage. Although most Telecine centers specialize in 16 or 35mm prints, many still develop 8mm film. If you have 8mm film that is being developed by the Telecine center it is possible to have the center finish the process and save the footage onto a blank DVD.

Instructions

    • 1

Take your 8mm film into the Teleceine center (see "References"). When dropping off the film you are asked to fill out some paperwork, including your name, production title, film type and how you want it transferred.

    • 2

Request for the 8mm film to be saved onto a DVD. This process is going to add additional charges to your service fee, although it generally is no more than $20, as of 2010.

    • 3

Ask about when the content is going to be completed. Because it is 8mm the project is probably not high on the priority list of the Telecine center, especially if the company is in a high usage market (such as New York and Los Angeles).

    • 4

Pick up the developed 8mm film once complete. The process footage is also saved on a blank DVD.
