How to Make a Glass Bead Magnet

How to Make a Glass Bead Magnet thumbnail
Make beautiful magnets out of glass beads.

Magnets hold special or important papers on your refrigerator, where you will be able to see them clearly. Although you can buy refrigerator magnets at a department store or novelty shop, they often look generic and cheap. One alternative is to make your own magnets using iridescent glass beads. These magnets will help your kitchen look more elegant, while still allowing you to post papers onto your refrigerator.

Instructions

    • 1

Place a flattened glass bead onto a sheet magnet.

    • 2

Trace around the bead using a wax pencil.

    • 3

Cut out the circle of magnet using scissors, making your cut slightly smaller than the tracing.

    • 4

Insert a hot glue stick into a hot glue gun, plug it in, and allow it to heat up for five minutes.

    • 5

Squeeze a pea-sized dollop of hot glue onto the back of the flattened glass bead.

    • 6

Press one side of the magnet circle onto the glued area of the bead. Allow the glue to cool and harden for two minutes.

    • 7

Place the glass bead magnet onto your refrigerator and repeat the process until you have as many glass bead magnets as you need.
