My Sony Handycam Is Not Installing in Vista

If you bought a Sony Handycam video camera that was released prior to the release of Windows Vista, you may experience errors installing the software. Windows Vista changed the driver engine significantly, resulting in a lot of product incompatibility. To overcome this problem, you will have to install the Handycam software and drivers from the Sony website instead. The drivers on the CD are outdated, so you must download up-to-date drivers.

      Enter the model number for your Handycam in the space provided and click "Continue."

      Click the "Operating System" drop-down and select your edition of Windows Vista.

      Click "Driver & Compatibility Information for Windows Operating Systems."

      Scroll down to the "Windows Vista" section. Click the appropriate download link for your software. Choose your series and model on the next page. Click "Download Now." Double-click on "Download" to install the software.
