How to Make a Gift Basket for a Cruise

How to Make a Gift Basket for a Cruise thumbnail
Help your loved one gear up for her cruise with a gift basket.

Gift baskets combine multiple, smaller gifts for all those multi-faceted events where you just can't decide on one thing. Gift baskets have evolved from the days of carrying only fruit and cheese as more industries recognize their appeal and create baskets with everything from skincare products to fly fishing accessories. For a recipient going on a cruise, a gift basket should contain small, but useful, items that won't weigh down her bag or prompt a customs inspection.

Things You'll Need

  • Medium-sized basket
  • Sunscreen
  • Light-weight travel guide
  • Underwater camera
  • Gum or mints
  • Flip flops
  • Head scarf
  • Tissue paper
  • Ribbon
  • Stiff plastic

Instructions

    • 1

Place a few sheets of tissue paper in the bottom of the basket and pull the remaining edges up and over the sides. The tissue paper adds elegance, but also keeps smaller items from becoming wedged into the basket wicker.

    • 2

Place the largest items in the bottom of the basket standing upright, like the sunscreen, travel guide and flip flops. Make the smaller items visible by nestling them securely against the side of the basket or in between two larger items.

    • 3

Lay the stiff plastic wrap flat on a table and put the basket in the center. Pull the plastic up from the bottom and around the sides of the basket. Hold the remaining plastic over the top of the handle, and tie a ribbon around it. Wrapping your gift basket will keep the contents contained during transit and boarding until the recipient is ready to use them.
