The Olympus Stylus 300 uses two AA batteries as its power source.

The Olympus Stylus 300 is a 3.2 megapixel CCD (charge coupled device) digital point and shoot compact camera. The camera comes in a silver metal case, and is designed for the novice-amateur section of the marketplace, according to the website Imaging Resource. Digital cameras like the Olympus Stylus 300 rely on a stable source of power to operate properly. If the batteries are run down, or if they are rechargeable batteries and no longer hold a charge, it may cause the camera to stop functioning.

Instructions

    • 1

Slide the front lens cover door to the closed position to keep the camera in the "Off" position.

    • 2

Remove the batteries from the battery compartment located in the bottom of the camera. When the batteries are removed, clean the metal contacts inside the compartment and on the door. You can use an eraser on the end of a pencil, or a cotton swab that has been moistened with rubbing alcohol.

    • 3

Replace the old AA batteries with new ones, and close the battery compartment door.

    • 4

Remove and replace the memory card in the Olympus Stylus 300. In most cases, if the memory card is full, the camera will still power up, but will not allow you to take any pictures. If the card is full or if it is corrupted, it may prevent the camera from turning on.

Slide the front lens cover to the open position to turn on the camera. If the lens extends slightly, then the camera is functioning. If the camera still has no power, you may need to have it inspected by an authorized Olympus repair facility.
