How to Make Your Own Dry Laundry Soap
With people looking for ways to save money, one option is to make homemade dry laundry detergent. Only a few ingredients are needed to make the product, and one batch of the detergent is enough to wash dozens of laundry loads. The detergent is also eco-friendly because the ingredients are less harsh than those found in the store brands. All of the ingredients can be found at most department or grocery stores. Things You'll Need
- Cheese grater
- Container with lid
- Fels Naptha Soap
- 1/2 cup washing soda
- 1/2 cup Borax laundry booster

Grate 2/3 cup of the Fels Naptha Soap into the container.

Measure 1/2 cup of Borax and 1/2 cup of washing soda into the container with the soap. Cover the container and shake well.

Place about 1 tsp. in the washing machine for a light load of laundry, or 2 tbsp. for a heavier load.

Tips & Warnings
Use less detergent if using a high-efficiency washing machine, or for loads of cloth diapers.
If clothes are stiff after washing, use less detergent.
Fels Naptha Soap may be irritating to a baby's skin. Substitute castile soap if you are using the detergent to wash baby clothes.
