How to Build Muscle Mass With Exercises
There is such a thing as gaining healthy weight. It comes in the form of muscle mass. If you want to promote overall health and body fitness, building general muscle mass is one way to do it. It complements your aerobic workouts by helping your body burn more calories at rest, since a pound of muscle burns more calories than other types of tissue. You can build muscle mass with exercise and some other simple guidelines.

Plan out a regular exercise schedule and stick to it. Focus on strength training, especially with free weights. The best way to gain muscle is through resistance exercises. If you're just starting out, focus on exercises that work several muscle groups at once, as opposed to isolation training. Good starter exercises are bench press, squats, dead lifts, dips and pull-ups.

Do full body workouts, especially in the beginning. Although professional weightlifters isolate muscle groups on different days, they had to work their way up to be able to do that. You need to develop base strength before graduating to five or six workouts a week, each isolating a different muscle group.

Eat a healthy, balanced diet. Focus especially on getting lots of lean protein into your diet, in the form of fish, chicken, egg whites, lean red meat and low-fat dairy products. Also, consume protein within half an hour before and after working out.

Get enough rest to let your muscles grow. If you're working out on a regular basis, you need a solid seven to nine hours of sleep a day. Also, mix up workouts to allow your body adequate time to recover.

Building muscle mass is something that most anyone can achieve with a moderate amount of effort. The main thing is to hit the right combination of several elements -- diet, exercise and adequate rest.
Take it easy if you're just starting off. Don't rush into rigorous weight training or dieting without talking to a physician or licensed personal trainer. You can seriously injure yourself if you try to lift too much weight too quickly, so take your muscle gain program in moderation.
