How to Activate a Discover Gift Card

A Discover gift card is similar to a prepaid credit card and can be used anywhere Discover Network Cards are accepted, with the exception of ATMs and check cashing agencies. Before the card can be used it must be activated. The process is simple and can be accomplished online or over the phone. In a matter of minutes you can have your gift card activated and start making purchases.

Instructions

1. Go to Discover's website and select the "Gift Cards" link at the bottom of the page. The link can be found under the "Other Products" section.

2. Select the "Activate Card.

3. Fill out the form. Enter your card number into its designated place, which is located on the front of the card. Locate and enter the three-digit cardholder ID number. This can be found on the back of the card printed in the area where you sign your name. Enter the code into the designated box.

4. Click the "Log In" button. Continue to follow the system prompts to complete the registration process. Sign the back of the card before you begin making purchases.

5. Activate by phone. Call 866-522-7026. Provide the customer service agent with your gift card number and ID number to complete the registration process.
