Precision scewdrivers can be purchased in most hardware stores.

The battery in your Nintendo DS delivers up to 19 hours of use on a three-hour charge, according to Nintendo. When you begin to notice the amount of game time provided by one charge decreasing, your battery has lost some of its life. When it no longer charges, it will need to be replaced with a licensed Nintendo battery. Nintendo recommends against using unlicensed "generic" brands. Removing the battery in your DS is a part of routine maintenance.
