How to Dismantle a Pit Bike Carb

A pit bike is a small, but powerful dirt bike that is used in the pit on a motocross track. The carburetor on these bikes is located under the gas tank. You need to dismantle the carburetor when you clean it or replace the jet pins. This is a basic job that must be done occasionally and can be completed in a driveway or garage.

  • Pliers
  • Flat head screwdriver

      Place the drain cup under the pit bike's carburetor. Remove the nut on the bottom of the carburetor using pliers, then drain the gas into the cup.

      Loosen the screws on the securing clamps on the hoses on the sides of the carburetor using a flat head screwdriver. Pull the hoses off the carburetor.

      Unhook the metal rod at the top of the carburetor. Pull the carburetor off the engine.

      Remove the two screws at the bottom face of the carburetor using a Phillips head screwdriver. Pull the face off the frame of the carburetor.

      Unscrew and remove all the gold jet pins from the frame and inside using a flat head screwdriver. Remove the floater from the hook on the inside of the carburetor. Remove the screws from the top of the carburetor and pull it apart.
