Instructions

    • 1

Remove the existing clasps using two pairs of jewelry pliers. Grab the existing jump rings that are holding the clasps on. Pull the jump ring apart to open it, making room to remove the existing clasp. Discard the old jump rings. If the jump rings are soldered closed, nip them open with wire cutters before opening them.

    • 2

Attach an open jump ring to each end of the chain where you just removed the existing clasps. Leave the jump rings open.

    • 3

Hold the new jump ring with a pair of jewelry pliers. Add one side of the magnetic clasp to the jump ring via the wire loop attached to the magnetic clasp. Use two pairs of jewelry pliers to gently close the jump ring, making certain the magnetic clasp and the chain from the jewelry are on the jump ring. Solder the jump ring, if needed, for a more secure closure. Repeat these steps on the opposite end of the chain.

Tips & Warnings

  • There are magnetic jewelry clasps that attach directly to the existing clasps for ease of attachment.
