How to Make Stuff Out of Cotton Swabs
Cotton swabs can be used to create an array of seasonal crafts, including Halloween and Christmas decorations -- ideal activities for keeping your kids busy on a rainy afternoon. With assistance from an adult, even young children can create cotton swab crafts. Gather a collection of cotton swabs and a few basic craft supplies and start crafting.

- Cotton swabs
- Construction paper
- Glue
- Markers
- Glitter
- Paint brush
- Scissors
- White chalk
- Foam balls
- Black paint
- Orange paint
- Black pipe cleaners
- Craft knife

Use cotton swabs to create snowflakes. Cut several cotton swabs into different lengths. Use the pieces that contain the cotton, as well as full-length cotton swabs, to make the snowflakes. Glue the swabs onto blue construction paper in any snowflake design you can think of. Spread glue on the piece of paper with a paintbrush and sprinkle glitter over it.

Make cotton-swab skeletons. Cut four cotton swabs in half. Glue a whole cotton swab vertically onto a piece of black construction paper, forming the spine. Glue three cotton swab halves on either side of the vertical swab in a horizontal fashion, creating the ribs. Make arms by gluing a whole cotton swab diagonally next to the first set of ribs. Attach a full cotton swab diagonally on either side of the bottom of the spine. Use white chalk to make a face on the top of the skeleton's spine.

Craft a snowman from cotton swabs. Glue three small foam balls on top of one another. Use a craft knife to smooth an edge on the bottom of the end foam ball. Cut a black pipe cleaner in half. Insert the pipe cleaner into either side of the center ball, creating arms. Clip the ends off of several cotton swabs. Insert the ends into the foam balls until they are completely covered. Use black paint to create a smile on the snowman and orange paint to create a nose.
