Instructions

    • 1

Button and zip up a pair of old jeans, then turn the jeans inside out. Lay the jeans on a flat surface.

    • 2

Cut the legs off 3 inches below the crotch. Fold one leg of the jeans in half matching the seams, and sew a 1-inch seam across the bottom of the leg opening. Trim the seam to half an inch. Repeat for the other leg.

    • 3

Turn the bag right side out.

    • 4

Tie one loose end of the braided trim to one side of the belt loop. Tie the opposite end of the braid to the other side of the belt loop to form the carrying strap.

    • 5

Place the strap over your child's shoulder to see if the length is correct. Adjust the length if needed. Tie the ends securely.

    • 6

Secure the strap ends with decorative pins for added security if desired.

    • 7

Decorate the blue jean book bag with embellishments to suit your child's taste. Apply buttons, beads, fabric paint or jewels to reflect her personality.
