My Visioneer Scanner Lamp Won't Move
When your Visioneer printer's lamp will not budge, it is usually a sign that either the scanner is locked, the lamp has not warmed up yet or the scanner is in standby mode. New scanners are delivered in locked position to hold the scanner securely in place during transportation. The scanner must be unlocked before you can use it. Additionally, the lamp will take a few moments to warm up before you can scan. Finally, if the scanner is in standby mode, the lamp may not turn off and its lifecycle can be reduced.

Slide the scanner's locking tab up to the "Unlocked" position. The locking tab is located on the rear of the scanner.

Restart your computer. If your scanner's lamp will not move, continue to the next step.

Right-click the scanner icon on the taskbar to open "Scan Manager Pro."

Click "Configure" and then click the "Preferences" on the far right of the Configuration dialog box. If you see a red "X" over the icon, click "Connect," then click "Configure" and "Preferences." (Note: The icon is a hand pointing downwards.)

Click "Do not wait for the Lamp to warmup when the Lamp has just turned on" if you want the lamp to come on when you turn on the scanner. Note that the lamp will not move until it is warmed up.

Right-click the scanner icon on the taskbar menu to open "Scan Manager Pro."

Click the "Scan" button, then click the "Preferences" tab.

Click the "General" tab and check "Show Status Window" and "Show Scanner Icon in Windows Taskbar" to select these options if they are not already checked.

Click "After Idling For," click the box beside it, and then enter the amount of minutes you want the lamp to stay on when idle before it automatically turns off.

Click "On System Standby/Shutdown" to set the lamp to turn off at the same time you turn your computer off.

Click "OK" and then attempt to scan when after the message status light displays that it is ready. If you cannot scan or if a red "X" is still displayed on the scanner icon after you try to connect, contact Visioneer customer support (see Resources).
