Linen fabric is durable when compared to delicates, like satin or silk. However, care should be taken when removing a rust stain on linen. Any acidic compound, which is typically used to remove rust stains, breaks down fabric and dissolves or bleeds colors. To properly clean off the rust, using milder compounds or natural cleaners is the best way to proceed. If you use care when cleaning, you will get out most common rust stains this way.   • Lemon juice
  • Water
  • Light scrub brush

      Set the linen towel or garment on a flat surface protected from spills or stains.

      Mix 1 tbsp. of lemon juice and 2 tbsp. of salt into a small container until you have a paste. This paste should be the consistency of butter.

      Spread the paste onto the rust stain on the fabric and let it sit for 30 minutes. If the paste does not cover the entire stain, mix up more using the same ratio of paste to lemon juice.

      Rinse off the paste with cool water. Continue to apply the paste to the stained area until it comes out completely. It may require several applications before the stain is removed.
