How to Paint the Sun
Creating a sun and painting it can help kids learn to various skills such as listening to directions, sharing supplies, helping each other and learning patience as parts of the projects dry. Things You'll Need
- Paper Plates
- Child proof scissors
- Yellow paint
- Pencil
- Paint brushes
- Cup with water to rinse the paint
- Construction paper (yellow, orange or white)
- Crayons
- Glue

Give each person participating in the craft a paper plate, a paintbrush, crayons, construction paper, glue and scissors. Clear a flat surface to participate in the activity.

Paint the round paper plate bright yellow with yellow paint and a paint brush. Give the paper plate time to dry.

Draw hand shapes on the construction paper. Each person who participates should trace their hands several times. The hands will form the sun's rays at the end of the craft.

Cut out each person's hands that were drawn on the construction paper. The hands will be one of a kind because no two people's hands are ever the same.

Apply glue to the back of the construction paper hands and paste the hands on the edge of the paper plates. Repeat the process until there are sun rays all around the plate.

Paint the hand prints to add more variation to the colors of the sun. Use yellow paint on orange hands and orange paint on yellow hands to give the painted sun depth.

Allow the suns time to dry and hang the suns up so that you can enjoy the artwork.
