Instructions

  1. Spring Hat Door Decoration

    • 1

Cut a hole 2 inches in diameter in the top of a brimmed straw hat. Pinch the area between your fingers and cut with scissors.

    • 2

Arrange a small bunch of plastic spring flowers. Cut the stems to 3 to 4 inches in length. Secure the bunch with a rubber band.

    • 3

Place the flower arrangement into the hole cut into the hat. Spread out the bunch to cover the top of the hat.

    • 4

Glue the bottom petals or leaves to the top of the hat. Use hot glue for a better grip.

    • 5

Wrap the brim of the hat with ribbon and create a bow at the back. Use a color to complement the outside of the home.

    • 6

Hang the hat on hooks or fasteners typically used for holiday wreaths.

    Decorative Tree Swing

    • 7

Wash and dry a recycled tire. A smaller tire works well, but any size is usable.

    • 8

Tie a long piece of twine through the middle of the tire and around a low hanging branch of a tree. Hang it so the tire is approximately 1 to 2 feet off the ground.

    • 9

Wrap plastic vine around the project. Tightly wrapped vines will cover the twine, looser will leave some of the rope visible. Wrap the tire loosely.

    • 10

Create a small group of flowers and secure it with a rubber band. Situate the arrangement at the base where the rope meets the tire. Secure it with a small piece of twine.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use an old gardening hat that is no longer perfect to create the door hanger. An uneven brim or small tear will give the project a more individual look.

  • When decorating the swing, you may need to use a ladder. Seek assistance before climbing on an unsecured ladder.
