How to Replace the Canister for a Central Vacuum

A central vacuum cleaner is a vacuum that is installed into a single area of your home, often the garage or laundry room. The vacuum cleaner has hoses that run through the interior of the walls in the house, connecting to vacuum outlets. A special vacuum hose can be plugged into any of the outlets, which turns on the vacuum cleaner and can be used as a normal vacuum. The vacuumed contents flow through the hoses in the wall and into the central vacuum cleaner canister, located at the bottom of the central vacuum unit. The canister should be emptied approximately every four months, or as needed. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the clips on both the side of the debris canister and on the bottom of the central vacuum unit.

    • 2

Lift the debris canister into place on the bottom of the vacuum cleaner, and align the canister so that the clips line up with the clips on the central vacuum unit, and that the rim falls into the grooves on the bottom of the unit.

    • 3

Flip the rings connected to the clips on the central vacuum unit onto the clips on the debris canister.

    • 4

Press the clips on the central vacuum unit up so that the rings connected to the debris canister are tightened around the clips, securing the canister in place.
